To celebrate its birthday, we announce a new page on Positive Psychology News, CSM References, that collects all of the references from the 32 PPND articles in one place. There is even a pdf version of the references that you can download for easy access. This joins the original book page that lists all of the PPND articles that appear in the book.
So to capitalize on the year…
28 authors contributed chapters to the book that explores all 24 character strengths and various ways they show up in everyday life. Their names are listed at the bottom of this page.
Each strength is accompanied by 5 ways to build it drawn from Tayyab Rashid’s longer list. Each strength comes with a read-aloud passage to help readers act as if they already were paragons of that strength. Some of these passages are featured on the Values in Action web site. Check out the monologue at the end of the VIA description of Creativity.
Character Strengths Matter was featured in an article in the Penn Gazette titled A Matter of Strengths.
The book has been selected for an Indie B.R.A.G. medallion and will soon appear on their honorees page.
Several thousand dollars have been donated to the Christopher Peterson Fellowship Fund from book royalties.
Lest we forget the brilliant mind that brought it together, we repeat here the dedication that appears on page ix of the book. We miss you, Chris.
“This book is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Peterson, a pioneer in the study of character strengths, a mentor for students of character, an exemplar of humor, humility, love, and kindness, and a good friend.
May the seeds you planted continue to grow and prosper.
Shannon [Polly] and Kathryn”
